PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the economy of network construction by setting both a constant bit rate signal transmission area and a polling signal transmission area to an optical frame. SOLUTION: An optical subscriber network is configured by interconnecting one master station 1 and a plurality of slave stations 10-15 or the like with an optical fiber 2 including optical star couplers 3, 4 or the like. A polling signal transmission area being a common area used in common by all the slave stations 10-15 and plural CBR signal transmission areas decided by each of the slave stations 10-15 are assigned to the optical frame sent periodically in the network. The communication of plant installation monitor control information or the like required to inform a state change in a short time without fail when the state of installation is changed is made by using the polling signal transmission area. Information permitted for more or less time to set a communication path of a telephone line or the like is sent by using the CBR signal transmission area for each of the slave stations 10-15, then the transmission line is utilized effectively. |
