<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new aromatic polycarbodiimide composed of a specific constituent unit, excellent in heat resistance and humectancy, also having thermal recovery, and useful for shrinkable films etc. SOLUTION: This new aromatic polycarbodiimide is composed of a constituent unit of formula I ((n) is an integer; the substitution sites of two phenoxy groups bound to the central benzene ring are 1,3or 1,4-linkage), and obtained, for example, by polymerizing a diisocyanate of formula II (the substitution sites of two 4isocyanatophenoxy groups bound to the central benzene ring are 1,3- or 1,4-linkage)(e.g. 4,4'-diphenylmethane diisocyanate) as monomer in the presence of a phosphorus-based catalyst at 50-90 deg.C.</p> |
