PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polishing machine which is capable of grinding an end face of an optical fiber to the desired end face shape, small in size, light in weight, and easily portable. SOLUTION: A multi-core optical connector 4 is fitted to a grinding machine, a tape back-up member 18 is arranged on a connection end face 3 side, and the tape back-up member 18 is connected to a supporting rod 21 which can be advanced/retracted along side plates 23a, 23b. A tape traveling surface 9 of a shape corresponding to the desired end face shape of a bare optical fiber of the multi-core connector 4 is formed on a tip of the tape back-up member 18, a delivery tip side of a tape 32 to be polished which is rolled around a delivery roller 30 is arranged along the tape traveling surface 9, and led out to a winding roller 31 side through guide rollers 33a, 33b on each side. The winding roller 31 is rotated integratedly with a winding shaft 28, the tape 32 to be polished is traveled, and a tip face of the bare multi-optical fiber projected forward from the connection end face 3 of the multi-optical fiber 4 is pressed against the tape to be polished traveling along the tape traveling surface 9 with the urging force of an urging spring 26 for polishing. |
