PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an acrylic resin composition containing glycidyl methacrylate as the monomer or the acrylic modifier and having properties improved without any adverse effects by adding a specified compound to glycidyl methacrylate as a monomer. SOLUTION: For example, allyl methacrylate is epoxidized at about 60 deg.C in the presence of a titanium silicalite and a suitable oxidizing agent (e.g. hydrogen peroxide) in a solvent (e.g. methanol or methyl ethyl ketone) to obtain glycidyl methacrylate containing 10wt.% or below, desirably 5wt.% or below compound represented by the formula and having a chlorine compound content of 10ppm or below. This methacrylate is mixed with 100ppm of p-methoxyphenol and benzoyl peroxide as a polymerization initiator, and the obtained mixture is allowed to gel by polymerization for about 50min at about 65±0.5 deg.C to obtain an acrylic resin composition easily usable in various applications.
