PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce both a ketone compound according to safe and simple operations by oxidizing a di-substituted acetonitrile compound in the presence of a heavy metal and a Z-isomer of an oxime derivative of benzoylpyridine from the resultant ketone by carrying out a two-stage reaction. SOLUTION: A compound of formula I (R<1> and R<2> are each an aryl or a heterocyclic ring) is oxidized in the presence of a heavy metal to provide a compound of formula II. A compound of formula IV is preferably obtained from a compound of formula III [ring A is a benzene ring; ring B is a pyridine ring; Rc is H or a protecting group of OH; (n) is 0 or 1] by using the reaction. An oxide or a salt of copper, iron or silver is preferred as the heavy metal. The compound of formula II is then reacted with a compound of the formula NH2 -R<3> (R<3> is H or a hydrocarbon) and the resultant compound is subsequently reacted with a hydroxylamine or O-substituted hydroxylamines of the formula NH2 -OR<4> (R<4> is H or an aliphatic hydrocarbon) or salts thereof to afford an oxime compound of the formula (R<1> )R<2> C=N-OR<4> or its salt (Z-isomer). A compound of formula V is especially prepared by using the method. |
