PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition capable of encapsulating DNA in high probability, high in rate of transducing nucleic acid into cells, thus useful for e.g. gene therapy, comprising virion (or virus-derived protein), cationic lipid and a nucleic acid. SOLUTION: This composition for gene transduction comprises (A) virion or virus-derived protein (pref. envelope protein or virion bearing the protein), (B) cationic lipid, and (C) a nucleic acid, i.e., a cyclic or straight-chain single- or double-stranded DNA or RNA or a chimeric form thereof, chemically modified by e.g. esterification, thiophosphorylation. This composition has low tendency to develop precipitate through forming a complex with in vivo component(s) or component(s) in a medium, therefore can be directly administered in vivo or incorporated into a medium.
