POROUS CERAMICS FILM, CERAMICS FILTER AND ITS PRODUCTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare a porous ceramics film having high porosity and high strength suitable as a high strength ceramics filter wherein ceramics fibers are not individually scattered or peeled from a base material even under high filtering pressure. SOLUTION: Ceramics fibers 2 supported on a ceramics base material 1 are coated with a liquid silicon-containing polymeric compd. and the coated fibers are backed to form a ceramics coating layer composed of at least one of carbide and nitride. The individual ceramics fibers 3 are mutually bonded by the ceramics coating layer and a high strength ceramics film having a three- dimensional reticulated skeletal structure is obtained. The ceramics fibers 3 are Si3 N4 fibers and the voids of the ceramics film is 70-95% and the average pore size thereof is 0.1-100μm.
