<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for forming a linear connection section for a power cable which allows an easy connection of shielding layers of the linear connection section of newer cables. SOLUTION: The ends of power cables are peeled off by steps to expose cable conductors, cable insulators, outside semiconductor layers, and shielding layers. After connecting the cable conductors of the power cables to each other, an insulating reinforcing layer is formed on the connection. Now, two tape-like non-magnetic metal plates 1, 1', each of which has solder 4, 4', are connected with a plurality of flexible conductors 5, 5a, 5b to form a soldering unit. The non-magnetic metal plates of the soldering unit are wound around the shielding layers of the connected power cables. Then, the metal plates are heated to melt the solder and then fasten the metal plates to the shielding layers. After that, a waterproof layer is formed on the metal plates.</p> |
