PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain high quality image recording by analyzing a content of recording data in the unit of scanning of a recording head and controlling a recording speed and an ink jet delivery amount from the recording head according to the result of analysis so as to prevent deterioration in expression capability of an image caused by a difference from the recording speed. SOLUTION: Recording data arranged with respect to a scanning direction of a recording head are analyzed and a frequency of change in the recording data from '0' to '1' or from '1' to "0" is checked and the scanning speed of the recording head is changed according to the frequency to control the recording speed. When the frequency is high, the scanning speed is controlled to be low (b) and when the frequency is low, the scanning speed is controlled to be high (c). In the case of conducting high speed recording, number of heat pulses applied to a heater mounted in a nozzle of the recording head is changed so as to increase the size of ink drop delivered through one ink jet operation thereby uniformizing the apparent density. |
