PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an emergency communication system by which high- reliability connection through a cellular telephone network is enabled by invalidizing the limited operation mode of a cellular telephone before the request of relief is started. SOLUTION: By activating a button inside a vehicle, a vehicle user can request emergency or road side relief from a response center 15. A global positioning system is used for continuously storing vehicle positions. The cellular telephone network is used for contact with the response center 15, and a data string containing information for supporting the activity of the response center based on this request is transferred through a MODEM. Before trying the dialing of a cellular transceiver 22, a command or the set of commands turns the cellular transceiver 22 into non-limited operating mode and the probability of completion of calling from the vehicle to the response center 15 or from the response center 15 to the vehicle is maximized.
