PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a code reader capable of sufficiently correcting uneven illumination and having high reading performance at a low cost. SOLUTION: The code reader has at least an illumination part for irradiating a code optically readably recorded in a recording medium 30 with light, a light receiving part for receiving reflected light from the code and an optical system 14 for leading the reflected light to the light receiving part. The illumination part has an illuminating substrate 26 mounting LEDs 18 on its surface and the board 26 is arranged on the periphery of a lens frame 22 for holding the optical system 14. An illuminating diffusion plate 28 is arranged between the substrate 26 and the code. The plate 28 has concaves in the optical axis direction of the LED 18. |
