PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a use limiting device for equipment and a portable telephone set by which the use of equipment is limited on fixed conditions in order to prevent equipment from being user by person other than an owner and a manager. SOLUTION: In this use limiting device for equipment provided with a transmitter 6 and a receiver 4 and this portable telephone set to which this use limiting device is added, the transmitter 6 transmits a peculiar code with fixed strength and since the receiver 4 is installed on this equipment and this equipment is away from the transmitter 6 just for a prescribed distance, when the transmitted code from the transmitter 6 can not be received, the operation of this equipment or this portable telephone set is stopped.
