PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic device which can preclude deterioration of a toner in a developing apparatus other than black without generation of jitter and can prevent fogging. SOLUTION: An electrophotographic device concerned is composed of an image carrier 11, latent image forming means 40a, 40b to form a latent image according to the image information on the image carrier 11, a plurality of developing means 14a, 14b which turn the latent image visible and contain at least two developers of different colors including a black, and a transcribing means 15 to transcribe the obtained visible image onto a transcribing material. The arrangement further includes a non-black sensing means 94 to sense whether the given image information includes any information piece for other than black and a changeover means 92 to turn on and off the drive of the developing means 14b for other than black, and if the non-black sensing means 94 has sensed that no information piece for other than black exists, a latent image for black is formed on the image carrier 11, and the changeover means 92 turns off the drive of the developing means for other than black, and formation of the next latent image is started after a certain period of time. |
