PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for setting the address making it possible to automatically set identification addresses to respective indoor units solely by a branch kit and a method for detecting the connection making it possible to effectively detect the connecting state of the unit in a multi-room split type air conditioner. SOLUTION: This method for setting the address of an air conditioner comprises the steps of detecting the first temperature of a heat exchanger in an indoor unit when all flow control valves in a branch kit 30 is opened in the case of supplying refrigerant to the refrigerant tube connection port connected with the kit 30 at an outdoor unit side, then detecting the second temperature of the indoor heat exchanger when the valves in the kit are closed one by one, recognizing the indoor unit corresponding to the exchanger in which a predetermined change is obtained at the second temperature with the first temperature as a reference as the indoor unit connected to the port corresponding to the closed value, and setting the identification address intrinsic for the recognized unit. |
