PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polychromator by which a spectroscopic analysis can be performed with a high resolution over a wide wavelength (wave number) range. SOLUTION: A diffraction grating 3 is turned by a driving gear 6, the angle of incidenceαof measuring light is made changeable, and optical systems 1, 2, 4 are arranged in such a way that the measuring light is diffracted and that a light component at every diffraction angle according to the angle of incidence is image-formed in every channel on a multichannel detector 5 such as a CCD or the like. Then, the driving gear is driven by a control instruction from a signal processor 7, the diffraction grating 3 is turned during a measurement, outputs, of the detector 5, which are received before and after its rotation are received, and data in a range which is wider than a range detectable simultaneously by the detector are acquired so as to be stored in a buffer 7a. In a correction part 7b, measured data which are acquired before and after its rotation are coupled, a prescribed correction processing operation is performed in apart in which the data are tied in their coupling, and smooth and continuous spectrum data is generated and output.
