PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent void and white streak of image quality which are caused by ozone or NOx , further, to maintain cleaning performance by the elimination of deterioration of cleaning-member due to its deformation, and to obtain an image of good quality which is stable over a long time, in a type of using a contact charger. SOLUTION: In the image forming device of an electrophotographic system equipped with the contact charging means 2, the cleaning means 7 is so arranged in contact with the surface of an image carrier 1 as to depress the surface and is provided with a forcible scraping member 8 whereby matters M to which ozone or NOx is sticking are removed. This forcible scraping member 8 may be separate from a residual-developer removal member 9 or used as the residual- developer removal member 9 as well. In particular, it is preferable that the member be a bladelike one. Also, it is preferable that the forcible scraping member 8 be used at specific nip-pressure or above. Further, in a type using an intermediate transfer body 6a, the ability of the cleaning means 7 to remove residual sticking matters is set greater than that of an intermediate-transfer-body cleaning means 10. |
