The cathode ray tube has a front panel (50) that is coated with a fluorescent material on the inner surface. Mounted internally is a shadow mask (61) fixed to a frame (60). The funnel section (7) reduces to a throat section in which the electron gun (91) is installed together with a deflection coil (92). The funnel section is constructed with a metal plate (80) that provides screening against magnetic field effects. The screening may on the funnel wall or within it.
