<p>The route identification system includes a wireless system installed independently of the geographical one and outside of the moving object to transmit information for detection of the actual geographic position of the object. A receiver system carried by the object receives the position detection information. A permanent memory is provided for the moving object to characterise individual routes on the route network and/or geographical zone. The position of the object is compared to the stored route position so that the geographic position of the object can be constantly identified.</p>
