The vertical cylindrical product-outlet (25) on the filler unit (26) has a cylindrical casing-shaped filler socket (43) telescopically connected to the product-outlet and movable on it. The filler unit has a worm metering appliance (46) with a bottom outlet for the product. The filler socket is rigidly joined to a height adjustment (35) in the form of a pneumatic cylinder (44). The topmost position into which the filler socket is moved is just above the top rim (29) of the bag (12) being filled. The upward open bags are conveyed to the filler unit by a conveyor (15) in the form of a horizontal continuous bucket belt (18) the buckets (20) of which have vertically continuous cavities (21) separating each bucket into two parts (22,23).
