PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an operation stable at a low temp. and to extend the life by using a material obtained by mixing platinum with a component selected from among gold. silver, copper and carbon as an electrode. SOLUTION: Barium gadolinium oxide is used as a solid electrolyte 1. This oxide is perovskite type oxide and thermally stable. A compsn. prepared by mixing 1-11 atomic % of platinum with gold is used in a cathode 2 and an anode. That is, a thick film (4-5μm) is formed by a screen printing method and baked at 90 deg.C for one hr to form an electrode. Further, an oxygen diffusion restricting plate 5 is attached to the solid electrolyte 1 on the side of the cathode electrode 2 by using glass paste. By using this electrode material, a limit current type oxygen sensor reduced in the deterioration of an output current, having a long life and capable of being operated at a low temp. is obtained. |
