The shock absorber strut has a piston rod (5) and a differential piston (4) that separates a bottom oil volume (68) with a high gas pressure primary pad (7) from a top oil volume (48) with a low gas pressure secondary pad (47). The level is regulated by feeding oil from an oil reservoir (43) into the bottom oil volume (68) and by discharging oil from the top oil volume (47) into an oil container. Pressure sensors trigger the self-levelling suspension and establish a set pressure in the secondary pad (47). The pressure sensors also control inclination compensation in curves.
