The mould closure device comprises a fixed and a moving tool chucking plate both of which can be supported on a machine frame and have chucking surfaces for a mould tool. The tool chucking plates are connected to one another in the closed position by columns. The problem addressed by the invention was that of finding a structurally and technologically advantageous way of ensuring that the moving tool chucking plate has all degrees of freedom relative to the guided path in the machine frame under the effect of closure force. In addition, the aim was to minimise deformations of the tool chucking surfaces with the mould halves in the tool separation plane in the vicinity of the inner tool edges. The solution is as follows: one of the two tool chucking plates (2, 3), preferably the moving one, consist of a thinner chuck part (3.1) and a thicker forces-transmitting part (3.2) both parts being connected around the region of the longitudinal central axis (9) by one or more pressure pieces (3.3). This solution results in a cost-effective de-coupling of the bending characteristics of a tool chucking plate while ensuring that the two chucking surfaces remain approximately parallel to one another when closure force is applied as a result of the concave deformation of one chuck surface and he convex deformation of the other chuck surface.
