The compass saw comprises a housing (1,2) in which a holder for the saw blade driver rod (14) is positioned underneath it and near its front end. The saw also has a balance weight (20) on which projections (23,24) lie on both sides of the longitudinal middle plane (13). The projections extend in the direction of front of the housing. The projections may extend in a plane which contains the longitudinal axis of the driver rod and which is transverse to the longitudinal middle plane (13). The projections are made in one-piece with the balance weight.
