The camera system has a housing (1) containing a camera module (8) connected to a remote monitor. This interacts with a lens seated in the front wall of the housing, whose rear wall is connected to a thrust rod, and with which the system can be pushed and pulled through the pipeline. At least the image acquisition device (7) of the camera system is rotatably mounted in the housing. An angle sensing device (26) delivers a signal, corresponding to the housing angle changes, to a motor (28). This has a rotational drive connection to the image acquisition device, or camera module, so that the image acquisition device is held horizontal.
