The profile splitting machine, for the centre soles of footwear, has a base plate (101) with an upper and lower roller assembly (41,42) each with spaced roller sections (411,412; 421,422) with their outer ends mounted to vertical carrier plates (12,13). Their inner ends are locked together by an elastomer chamfer section (43,44). One carrier plate (12) is fixed and the other carrier plate (13) has movement on the base plate (101), parallel to the line of the roller assemblies (41,42), to carry the second roller sections (412,422) of each, while the first roller sections (411,421) are mounted to the fixed carrier plate (12). A mechanism moves the carrier plate (13), with its supported roller sections, in relation to the fixed carrier plate (12), and a second mechanism (16-19) gives a vertical movement to the roller sections of the roller assemblies (41,42). A third mechanism (14,15) gives a rotary drive action to the roller units (41,42).
