Described is a device for opening and reclosing containers, in particular flattopped composite-material drink cartons. The device has a base element (1) with a pouring aperture, an integrally moulded pouring lip and a flange running round the aperture, the base element being designed to attach the device to the surface of the container. The device also has a lid (2) hinged to the base element (1) and an opening element (3) attached to the lid (2), the opening element (3) being mounted to move in a guideway in the lid (2) in such a way that, when the container is opened, the container material located under the base element (1) is pierced by the opening element (3) through the aperture in the base element (1). The device ensures that the container can be opened and reclosed cleanly and that drink cartons fitted with the device can be resealed tightly. The opening element (3) is designed in two parts comprising a push plate (3A, 3A') and a piercer ring (3B, 3B'), the piercer ring (3B, 3B') remaining inside the base element (1) when the container is opened.
