The laser diode 2 is controlled with image signals and outputs a divergent emission that is directed to a lens 18 to produce a coherent beam 9 to be received by a partially reflecting mirror 19 such that about 5% of the light is reflected as a feedback signal 11. this signal is received by the active zone of the laser diode. The transmitted component is focussed 22 onto the recording material 24.
