The following resistance compsns., suitable for prodn. of a resistor in a spark plug, are claimed. (1) 100 Wt. parts of a basic mix comprising 30-70 wt.% glass and balance inorganic aggregate; 0-30 wt. parts stabiliser for the resistance under load; 0.1-10 wt. parts carbon black and/or organic carbonaceous material contg. resistance control agent; and 0.01-10 wt. parts metal powder selected from Al, Mg, Zn, Sn, Ti, Zr, Fe, Ge, Ag and their alloys. (2) (a) 10-70 Wt.% of a mixt. of 2-60 wt.% glass, 2-65 wt.% inorganic aggregate, 0.1-7 wt.% carbon black and/or organic carbonaceous material contg. resistance control agent and 0.01-10 wt.% metal powder selected from Al, Mg, Zn, Sn, Ti, Zr, Fe, Ag, Ga and their alloys; and (b) 30-90 wt.% ceramic aggregate of 100-800 microns particle size.
