PURPOSE:To provide the vehicle display device which superimposes dynamic road information on traffic congestion, road constructions, traffic control, etc., within optimum ranges corresponding to the current travel state of the vehicle on a road map of the periphery of the current position of the vehicle. CONSTITUTION:This display device is equipped with a display range calculating means 106 which calculates the display range of the dynamic road information inputted from a dynamic road information input means 105 according to the current travel state of the vehicle including at least the travel direction of the vehicle detected by a travel direction detecting means, the travel speed detected by a travel speed detecting means, and the distance from the current position detected by a position detecting means to a destination set by a destination setting means, an information extracting means 107 which extracts the dynamic road information within the display range, and a display means 108 which reads static road information on the periphery of the current position of the vehicle detected by the position detecting means 100 out of a static road information storage means 104 and displays the dynamic road information extracted by the information extracting means 107 corresponding to the static road information; and the dynamic road information in the best range for the persons on the vehicle is displayed at all times. |
