PURPOSE:To shorten a span of assembling cycle time by installing an assembly unit which changes a work holding plane over to first to third positions, while alloting the assembly unit and a robot to each portion of the work so properly, and assembling an engine cover in this way. CONSTITUTION:A cover holding plane 62a is turned round a turning shaft, and there is provided with a relatively simple structural assembly unit 16 with a holding unit 45 made selectable to first to third positions. With this installation, a series of operations for assembling an engine cover 8 are optimally allotted to a robot 18 and the assembly unit 16 each and thereby automatic assembly is made performable at short cycle time. In addition, since the engine cover 8 is stowable endwise in a storage case, storage efficiency is very good, and since it is transferred endwise intact, all wasteful mechanism of the robot 18 are omitted and thus a structure can be simplified. Moreover, since the engine cover 8 is handled crosswise and a sealant is applied, any dropping of this sealant can be also prevented. |
