PURPOSE:To permit ink to fill a liquid chamber completely by providing an air reservoir continuous to a liquid chamber outside the liquid chamber. CONSTITUTION:The upper tube of a liquid chamber 3 has a sealed tip as an air reservoir 1. The air reservoir is continuous to an end of the liquid chamber. Before ink is poured from a feed pipe 2, the interiors of the liquid chamber 3 and the air reservoir 1 are depressurized. Ink flows into the liquid chamber, finding its way into an inlet of the air reservoir, and the interior of the liquid chamber is filled with ink. In this case, a small quantity of air bubbles, if remaining in the neighborhood of the inlet of the air reservoir, are absorbed into the air reservoir due to a negative pressure in the air reservoir, and no air bubbles are allowed to exist in the liquid chamber. If a part connecting the air reservoir to the liquid chamber is sufficiently narrow, air does not flow back, and neither is the discharge adversely affected. |
