PURPOSE:To reduce the spread of a magnetic fluid by absorbing a surface active agent on the surface of a holding member. CONSTITUTION:A holding member for a magnetic fluid is soaked in a heated solution of a basic or neutral water solution of a fatty acid for a specific time, then water-washing and drying processes are applied, and after that, the excessive fatty acid is removed by a solvent. On the surface of the magnetic fluid holding member produced in such a way, a surface active agent layer of a fatty acid, for example, is formed, and thereby, the surface of the member is reformed into a non-polar surface. As a result, a spread of the magnetic fluid can be prevented. |
