PURPOSE:To augment the surge breakdown strength of an element by a method wherein an electrode provided on both sides of a sintered body is connected to leading-out lead wires by partial connection in the soldering process at the fusing temperature higher than the melting point of eutectic solder. CONSTITUTION:The oxide powder containing bithmuth oxide, manganese oxide, etc., is added to zinc oxide powder to be formed into grain sintered body 1. Both the sides of the sintered body 1 are printed with an electrode mainly composed of silver and heat-treated to form an electrode 2. Next, a silver exposed part is tightly held by lead wires 4 to be immersed in a high temperature soldering vessel so that the silver electrode 2 may be connected to the lead wires 4 to form an element. In such a constitution, the element can be prevented from breaking down due to the solder fusion by the heat developed from the sintered body 1 and the electrode release thereby augmenting the surge breakdown strength.
|
