PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a super abrasive particle type grinding wheel suitable for grinding especially an ferrous metal material, the grinding wheel being excellent in its service life and abrasion performance by providing the grinding wheel with a super abrasive particle layer bound with super abrasive particles by amorphous connection phase containing a specified amount of amorphous material reactively precipitated during the baking process of amorphous binder. SOLUTION: In forming a super abrasive particle layer 3 in a bit chip 4 by mixing super abrasive particles with an amorphous binder and then baking the same, a crystalline material is reactively precipitated from the amorphous binder. The super abrasive particle layer 3 is thereby composed of super abrasive particle and amorphous binder phase binding it and crystalline material is dispersedly contained in the binding phase. The content of crystalline material in the binding phase is set in the range of 15-70 in terms of volume %, and as the crystalline material one havingβ-spodumen S. S. based material is used while as the super abrasive particles CBN(cubic crystallization type boron nitride) is used. In the super abrasive particle layer alumina type abrasive grain or silicon carbide type abrasive particles are contained.
