Pedal mechanism for cycle and exercise equipment

The invention discloses a pedal mechanism for a bicycle or a piece of exercise equipment which allows one to impart forward motion to the drive wheel of the bicycle through an alternating or stair climbing pedalling motion. The downward force of one of the pedals causes the other pedal to move in the opposite direction. Depending on the position of the pedals, many different pedalling patterns are possible.
