PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain superior durability by compacting a magnesian material, a chrome-contg. material and an aluminous material as essential refractory materials, carrying out heat treatment at a specified temp. and forming the innermost wall of a furnace with the resultant regularly shaped refractories having a prescribed porosity. SOLUTION: An essential refractory material compsn. is prepd. by blending 25-90wt.% magnesian material with 5-50wt.% chrome-contg. material and 2-25wt.% aluminous material contg. >=90wt.% Al2 O3 so that the total amt. is regulated to >=90wt.%. This compsn. is compacted optionally after kneading with a binder and the resultant compacts are heat-treated at <=1,000 deg.C to obtain regularly shaped refractories having <=15vol.% porosity. The innermost wall of a furnace is formed with the refractories, dry monolithic refractories are charged into the space between the regularly shaped refractories and the body of the furnace, and filling by direct vibration is carried out to obtain the objective induction furnace. |
