PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a sufficient penetration depth and welding speed while increasing energy efficiency by arranging welding face with a prescribed angle for the laser irradiating direction. SOLUTION: Welding is executed by irradiating a first base metal 1a and second base metal 1b with a laser 3 of a laser beam welding machine having a lens 2. End faces 11a and 11b to be welded are made to tapered face, because the clearance between the first base metal 1a and second base metal 1b is not through along the irradiation direction of laser beam 3 and the laser beam 3 is completely received by the first bade metal 1a and second base metal 1b, there in so energy waste due to passing through of the laser beam 3. Also a welding end of one of base metals at least having difference in step in part is acceptable as well. By this method, passage of laser beam from the clearance between base metals is reduced or eliminated without needing high precision. |
