PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a golf ball excellent in carry performance, satisfactory in spin performance in a shot with a short iron and excellent in control performance at an approach shot with a little run by making the outermost layer of a cover to have the thickness less than a predetermined dimension and the Shore hardness less than a predetermined value. SOLUTION: This golf ball has a cover molded around a core with at least two layers. The outermost layer constituting the golf ball has not more than 0.05mm of the thickness and not more than 55 degrees of the Shore D hardness. Since the cover molded around the core is structured thus with at least two layers, so that the inner layers of the cover except for the outermost layer are formed in consideration of the satisfactory carry and durability. The outermost layer of the cover molded on the inner layers of the cover is a soft one having not more than 55 degrees of Shore D hardness and a thin one having not more than 0.05mm of the thickness to improve the spin property and a shot feeling without reducing the carry performance obtained from the repulsion by the inner layer of the cover and the core.
