PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate collection of data about projections within the areas of detector elements where sensitivity and response are more uniform than in areas on the edges of detectors and to substantially eliminate the overlap of the projection data in a spiral scan. SOLUTION: This twin-beam CT scanner includes a beam splitter 58, an X-ray source 50 producing X-rays 72 that are entirely projected toward an object in such a way that they are transmitted through time object at least partially, and an array of detectors 52 including a plurality of detector cells 54A, 65B arranged in such a way as to form at least two lines of cells. The beam splitter 58 is positioned so that the X-rays 72 projected from the X-ray source 50 are substantially spilt into at least two beams 74A, 74B before being projected in such a way as to transmit through the object at least partially.
