PRODUCTION OF POLYESTER-BASED ELASTIC SOLID STAPLE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject solid staple excellent in uniformity, forming property and elasticity and useful for sanitary material staples and bedding from ball-like staple formed from specific main staple and a specific thermally bonding staple. SOLUTION: (A) A conjugate fiber (having 3-15 denier single yarn fineness and capable of developing >=30/25mm crimp in free contract at 160 deg.C for 10min) comprising polyalkylene terephthalates 3 and 4 having 0.03-0.15 difference of intrinsic viscosity is used as a main staple and (B) an eccentric conjugate fiber [having (40:60) to (80:20) core-sheath ratio and 5-10 mechanical number of crimps and capable of developing >=30/25mm in free contract at 90 deg.C for 10min] comprising a core component 2 (polyalkylene terephthalate) and a sheath component 1 (a copolymer polyester having 110-215 deg.C softening point and obtained by copolymerizing terephthalic acid and isophthalic acid with ethylene glycol) is used as a thermally bonding staple and the both fibers are used in a ratio of (90:10) to (60: 40) to form a ball-like staple (having 3-20mm diameter) and the ball-like staple is fed to ticking by air and heat-treated at a temperature not lower than softening point of sheath component of the component B.
