PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a compound F-12434, having antimicrobial activities and useful as a preventing or a therapeutic agent for microbism. SOLUTION: This compound F-12434 is represented by the formula or its salt and has the following physicochemical properties: (1) properties of the substance: an acidic fat-soluble powder; (2) molecular formula: C18 H25 NO3 ; (3) molecular weight: 303 [measured by high-resolution fast atom bombardment-mass spectrometry (FAB-MS)]; (4) elementary analysis: found: C, 69.69; H, 8.36; N, 4.03; calculated: C, 69.19; H, 8.39; N, 4.49; (5) specific rotatory power [α]D<25> -87.8 deg. (c 1.0 in methanol), etc. The objective compound F-12434 represented by the formula is obtained by culturing a microorganism, belonging to the genus Dicephalospora and capable of producing the compound F-12434 and collecting the objective compound from the prepared cultured product. A Dicephalospora rufocornea (Berkeley & Broome) Spooner SANK 27795 strain is preferred as the microorganism capable of producing the F-12434 used at that time. |
