PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably control the pH off activated carbon even when the water supply is started and prevent the use of a large amt. of water by treating the activated carbon with acid and then deacidifying it so that the activated carbon concn. is controlled to desired pH when water is purified and specifying the water content of the activated carbon. SOLUTION: Activated carbon is treated with acid and then deacidified. The acid to be used is appropriately selected in accordance with the raw material of the activated carbon, etc., and hydrochloric acid, for example, is preferably used. The activated carbon and the selected aq. acid are agitated and sufficiently mixed in the acid treatment. The acid-treated activated carbon is brought into contact with a specified amt. of water and mixed or the activated carbon is treated in running water and deacidified. The water content of the acid-treated and deacidified activated carbon is controlled to 20wt.%. Since the water is removed by holding the activated carbon on a mesh, special drying treatment is not needed, and the activated carbon is preserved by any method. |
