PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing acrylamide by the catalytic hydration reaction of acrylonitrile with water in the presence of a copper catalyst, capable of producing the high grade acrylamide enabling to produce polymers sufficiently high in mol.wts. and good in water solubility by purifying the acrylonitrile of raw material. SOLUTION: This method for producing acrylamide comprises hydrating acrylonitrile in the presence of a copper catalyst through at least two processes comprising a process for bringing the acrylonitrile into contact with a strongly acidic cation exchange resin and a process for bringing the acrylonitrile into contact with a resin having tertiary amino groups, and further through a process for bringing the treated acrylonitrile into contact with active carbon, when the process using the strongly acidic cation exchange resin is carried out as the post process. |
