The temperature monitoring device is consists of a grip knob and cover lid (12) of a cooking panel. Within the grip knob a temperature sensor and display are positioned such that the display is visible through a panel on top of the lid. The temperature sensor is contained in a capsule (18) with a coupling element (21) to the pan interior. The covering lid (12) has a circular sectional (17) with a sprung extension (28).
