Disclosed is a method for securing shellfish to a culture rope, comprising the steps of preparing binder pins each having an elongated shaft portion of an equal diameter and a pointed end portion integral with the shaft portion; using one of the binder pins and inserting the pointed end portion into a pierced hole of an ear end portion of shellfish to thereby bind shellfish to a culture rope; and squeezing opposite end portions of the binder pin to form stoppers that prevents dropout of the shellfish from the binder pin. The binder pin preferably has a diameter smaller than but at least equal to or larger than 90% of a diameter of the pierced hole. Apparatus for carrying out the method is also disclosed, which comprising a piercing unit, a pin-inserting unit and pin-squeezing unit.
