Light amplification system for use with optical fibre transmissions

The optic amplifier uses an optical fibre doped with erbium and an optical pumping source (8) providing a waveband of 1530 nm. The light source providing the 1530 nm wavelength light is subjected to a Raman amplification by a light source having a waveband between 1430 and 1450 nm in the trajectory of the optical fibre. This serves to amplify the light signal using the pumping energy. The amplifier is tuned to increase the length of transmission of the optical fibre by increasing the intensity of the pumping light.
