VEHICULE ANTI-HIJACKING AND ANTI-THEFT DEVICE

A vehicle anti-theft device including a "normal mode" which allows a highjacker to drive away but disables the vehicle after a short time delay and a "valet mode" which allows others, such as parking attendants and mechanics, a limited driving period that when exceeded causes vehicle disablement until a hidden valet switch is activated. The device determines a highjacking event by sensing door opening while in the "normal mode" and subsequently disables the vehicle after a time delay of preferably three minutes has expired and after the vehicle stops. A motion sensor (12) ensures that vehicle disablement does not occur while the vehicle is in motion.
