The regulator has a coil (2) wound on its core (4) to exert magnetic force on the armature (5) which is movable axially within front and rear bearings (7,8). A plunger (11) is freely movable in a guide (12) between the front bearing (7) and a closure element (13) of larger diameter in an oil passage (14). The armature divides its chamber (6) into two damping volumes (6A,6B) interconnected by a groove (9). An oil-filled damping chamber (22) is formed between a set screw (21) and the rear bearing (8). Another damping space between the front bearing and the plunger guide is connected to the armature chamber by a relief port (20).
