A method for treating keratin fibres, particularly hair, for perming said fibres and particularly for perming hair. According to the method, (i) a reducing composition including a combination of disulphide and thiol within a predetermined ratio range is applied on the keratin fibres to be treated, and the means (curlers) required for mechanically tensioning the keratin fibres are positioned prior to or during the application of said composition, (ii) the keratin fibres are rinsed, (iii) the tensioning means used in step (i) are separated from the keratin fibres, (iv) the keratin fibres are mildly oxidised, and (v) the keratin fibres are optionally rinsed again.
