<p>This invention is an exercise device comprising a variable speed rotary driving device (10), an adjustable speed control (90) for the rotary driving device, an exercise link (70) offering resistance to motion of the user, and a hydraulic coupling (30) connecting the variable speed rotary driving device to a torque multiplier (40). The exercise device operates such that torque is transmitted to the exercise link (70) to impart resistance to motion of the link (70), the resistance to motion is variable, a consistent function of the speed, direction of the link (70), and of the variable speed rotary driving device (10).</p> |
